The Government Assistance Program aims to promote home ownership with a refund of 5 % of the price of your purchase amount. However, the refunded amount cannot exceed Rs 500000 in a fiscal year.
It is applicable for diverse acquisitions. For example, if you purchase a land at Rs 2000000, you will get a refund of Rs 100000. Moreover, if you purchase a second property at Rs 3000000 in the same financial year, you will again be eligible for government assistance for a refund of Rs 150000.
Who are eligible to the Government Assistance Scheme?
For this, you have to be of Mauritian Nationality and the deed of sale should be signed between 1 st July 2021 to 30th June 2022. So do not waste time, it is now or never to start searching for your dream house and to acquire it !
How about the Loan Repayment Scheme?
The Government encourages Loan Buyers by refunding 5% back of the value of the total amount disbursed on your bank loan before the end of June 2024. The refundable amount shall not exceed Rs 500000. In order to be eligible, the loan taken must be for the purpose of construction of your house or apartment or completion of your house.
Who can benefit from it?
You should be of Mauritian Nationality.
The signature of deed of sale should be between 1 st July 2021 to 30th June 2022.
Moreover, the Home Ownership Refund Scheme ( 5% refund from selling price) does not prevent you from being exempted from the 5% Registration fee.
You can benefit from these exemptions either under the ‘First Time Buyer Scheme ‘ or ‘For the acquisition of a Newly Built Dwelling Scheme’ . You just have to see which Scheme suits your case.
